This door was dangerous!! The back hang bracket was ready to fall from the ceiling and the wood door was so rotted on the bottom that the fixtures the lift cables are attached to that hold all the tension of the springs were ready to snap off! Glad I was able to replace this door before it fell down or caused injury!

Big doors! Third garage bay addition to match these doors we replaced a few years ago. Full view glass tinted dark gray 😎 with black andonized aluminum frame. The hinges and hardware were also powder coated black to match the door. 😍 #garagedoors

Let's make a cutting board!

I like using Maple, Birch, and Walnut. All 3 are hard woods and vary in color.

Cut wood to length and glue up using a non-toxic glue like Titebond3. Press wood together using pressure or pipe clamps.

After glue dries, scrape excess off with chisel.

I used a cardboard template of New Hampshire and cut boards where needed to make 2 NH boards.

Using a planer, I trimmed boards flat, taking off the rest of the excess glue.

I used my NH template and traced the shape. Using my jigsaw, I trimmed the wood following my trace.

I took a router with a 1/4" round over and went around the perimeter, smoothing out the edges.

Using a 120 grit sandpaper, I cleaned up the boards and made them smooth.

I cleaned the board with water. It also helps open up the pores of the wood in preparation for finishing.

To finish, I love using products from a local company @bumblechutes . Their hydrating wood serum and wood conditioner are great!

Let dry and enjoy!

-failed pulleys that were grinding into the track
-sketchy caribeaners holding the springs
-crumpled door panels
-soffits right against track (previous homeowner installed metal to protect sheetrock where springs were rubbing against)

Needless to say these doors needed to be replaced. See next post for transformation!
